About Farmstead Florals
Meet the Farmer, Katherine
I started Farmstead Florals in 2016 between my junior and senior years of college at Sewanee: the University of the South. A love of beauty and being outside made flower farming an idyllic profession, but the true joy for me comes from knowing that my hard work mixed with the magic of Mother Nature brightens people's days and adds a little more color to the world. It’s a marvel to plant a seed and watch it become bushy with blooms as we then weed, water, nourish, and prune each plant. I’ve done the same with Farmstead Florals, growing it slowly over years, from ¾ of an acre to 7, and have the privilege of selling buckets of flowers to 30+ florists and groceries across three states as well as at two farmers markets and one Self Serve Honor Stand on the Oxford Square.
Never before did I think of myself as a creative person until I found flower arranging. I love playing with different textures and color palettes and watching as the bouquets change each week from May to October as different varieties come and go out of season.
I feel so fortunate to have found what I love to do so early on and look forward to many more years of dirty hands, filled vases, and shared beauty.
